Dinesh Vijan and Rajkummar Rao are teaming up again for a biopic about Ujjwal Nikam, a renowned Indian lawyer known for handling major criminal cases. The film, directed by Avinash Arun, will start shooting in October 2025. Preparations are ongoing, with key cast members being finalized.
Pinkvilla reports that Wamiqa Gabbi will play the female lead. A source close to the production said, “Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi shared good chemistry in Bhool Chuk Maaf, and the makers are looking to bring them back in a completely new space. The paperwork with the duo is done, and they are looking to do multiple rounds of acting workshops in the month of September, before taking the film on floors in October.” The source also mentioned that both actors will change their appearances to make their roles authentic.

The biopic will focus on Nikam’s work, including the 1993 Bombay Blasts and 2008 Mumbai Train Attacks cases. The source stated, “Ujjwal Nikam biopic celebrates the legacy of one of the greatest lawyers of our generation, and will focus on his controversial case proceedings of the 1993 Bombay Blasts as well as the 2008 Mumbai Train Attacks.”
This is the sixth collaboration between Vijan and Rao, who have previously worked on Made In China, Raabta, and Bhool Chuk Maaf. Vijan is also preparing for the release of Param Sundari and has other projects like Thama, Cocktail 2, Ikkis, and Daler in development.

Rao is working on various films, including a comedy, a thriller, and a biopic on Bhagat Singh. Gabbi has upcoming projects, including Vishal Bhardwaj and Shahid Kapoor’s Pati Patni Aur Woh Do and Bhooth Bangla.
