Indian director, writer and comedian, Varun Grover is known for his quick wit and humorous takes on the ongoing topics in the country. Recently, during his stand-up comedy show, he spoke about the India’s Got Latent controversy and even took a dig at Ranveer Allahbadia’s social media name Beer Biceps. For those who forgot, the content creator found himself in trouble for asking a controversial “Would You Rather” question to a contestant on the show.
As the content creators and everyone involved with the show are facing multiple FIRs, Grover shared his thoughts on the matter with a hilarious twist. He told the audience to not record his shows as that is how the “comedy world works.” He went on to point out that there is a whole process comedians go through to create new material. They take 3-4 months to write their new content, then perform it for an hour during their show, they go on a tour and perform the same show during it, once the tour is almost over, they record it and put it on YouTube, and then go to jail.

While explaining the process, he mentions that he wouldn’t like going to jail, just because of a 6MB video recorded on an audience member’s phone, rather his high-quality 2k-4k video. Quoted by Indian Express, he added, “I don’t want to go to jail because of the 6 MB video recorded on your Oppo phone. If I have to go to jail, it should at least be because of my high-quality 4K video that I have shot. This way, at least I will get some respect. If it’s a shaky video, no one will even understand who is talking because of the video quality. Even I can deny saying ‘sir, look closely. It’s Samay Raina’.”
Once the audience calms down, he goes on to talk about Ranveer and his screen name Beer Biceps and how someone with that type of name should have stopped working a long time ago. Irrespective of what his name is or what his show is, just on the basis of his name, she should have been “shut a long time ago.” Varun adds, “Beer Biceps, yeh kya hai yeh? Sounds like a Gurgaon p**nstar’s name.”

Joking about the investigation around the India’s Got Latent controversy, he said, “Police went to that studio where they shot the episode, for a raid. Police is thinking they are still sitting there. They are sitting there, waiting, after uploading the episode. ‘No one has come yet. No one has got offended’. Now they have gone and they are asking ‘Where is Samay Raina?’”
As soon as the video of his stand-up comedy bit was posted on his official social media handle, fans rushed to the comment section of his post to laud him. While many urged him to write a show on the entire drama surrounding the show, others shared laughing emojis.
It is to be noted, that after netizens outraged about the India’s Got Latent episode, Maharashtra Cyber Cell and Mumbai police registered multiple FIRs against Samay Raina, Ranveer Allahbadia, Apoorva Mukhija and others for promoting obscenity and vulgarity online through the former’s now-deleted stand up show. The content creators had come under fire after they made disrespectful, obscene comments and used vulgar language on the show, which caused an uproar on social media.
